A Solar Power Inverter is the most important part of each solar system.
Here at Evolution Solar Kingaroy we take great care in recommending solar power inverters. Without a good inverter – it doesn’t matter how much sun there is or how good your solar panels are. If your inverter can not take the power captured and efficiently turn it into usable electricity – the whole solar system will not be running to its full potential.
Solar inverters are responsible for chaning DC power from the solar panels into usable AC power. There can be a vast difference in price of inverters and this is because of the electrical components used within the inverter. Those with better quality components will create longevity.
There are two main types of solar inverter – a string inverter and a micro inverter
The string inverter is probably the most used. This is when the solar panels on the roof are installed in a line – each connected to each other and then connected into the inverter. For most installations this works perfectly. However the down side is that should one solar panel be blocked or shaded, the efficiency of each and every solar panel installed in that string will decrease by the same amount. It can be restrictive if the solar panels need to be installed on different roof areas.
On properties where shading is an issue or multiple areas are used to install the solar panels, micro inverters may be used. This means that each individual solar panel effectively becomes its own solar system. If one part of one solar panel is shaded or blocked in some way – the others will all still operate at 100% of its potential. It is easier to designed complicated solar systems where solar panels need to be installed in different places as it allows them to be installed individually and not connected to one another.
